If a few days ago we talked about how Jeep was playing riddles with a series of cryptic numbers, the American firm has taken advantage of the weekend to unveil its latest creation, and yes, it is what we expected.
It is a more capable Wrangler than ever baptized as the Jeep Wrangler Xtreme Recon Package. A conversion pack for the American 4x4 that turns it into an ultra-adapted off-road machine for moving over difficult terrain; Jeep's answer to the new Ford Bronco.
Before revealing the surprise, Jeep has continued to play with us in one last installment of numbers on images. On rock bottom 12.9, in water 33.6, 100:1 on a mountain crest and 47.4 on a slope could mean ground clearance in inches, fording ability, gear ratio and angle of attack.

To these data we should add the ventral and departure angles of 40.4º and 47.4º that we already suspected with the first teasers. These figures make the Wrangler a monster capable of overcoming impossible obstacles for other cars and that the brand has ended up confirming after a leak.
The Jeep Wrangler Xtreme Recon Package slipped away (ahem) from the guys at Overland Expo and this variant has been circulating like a scooter in traffic jam on the web. It comes with 9 inch Jeep Wrangler led headlights, front turn signals. It is an official package that transforms the Wrangler and that we can order from the factory at the time of purchase, preserving the guarantee and shooting the 4x4 character to the extreme as its name indicates.
What will not be possible is to combine the Extreme Recon package with all versions of the Wrangler, because it will be available exclusively for the most radical: the Unlimited Rubicon and the beast V8 of 470 CV Unlimited Rubicon 392.

The most beastly change of the Wrangler after undergoing this transformation will be the wheels. They will be equipped with 17-inch beadlock wheels (there Jeep misled us with the alloy wheel in the last teaser) shod with 317 mm and 35-inch diameter BF Goodrich KO2 All-Terrain tires.
These wheels are controlled through new suspensions with which a ground clearance of 328 mm (the 12.9 inches of the rocks) is achieved, that is, 40 mm more than before. In the same way the wading height also grows to 853 mm (33.6 inches above the water photo).

But the modifications do not end there because the gearbox will also be reinforced with new developments and a crawl ratio (reduction ratio) of 100:1 that will make it capable of facing almost any step. The manual Ford Bronco is equipped with a 94.8:1 gearbox.
The nice thing about all this change is that you don't have to go aftermarket and have it assembled in a shop or take the Wrangler to a 4x4 specialist. Although the brand is electrifying the Wrangler, they do not forget its DNA and all those fans of climbing rocks.
